The inspiration for this recipe was to elevate the flavors in an heirloom tomato by using the a la plancha method. A la plancha means, to grill on a metal plate. In our recipe, we use a cast iron griddle.
These tomatoes make a great side dish to any protein or salad!
Heirloom Tomato a la Plancha

Ingredients
- 1/2 tomato
- dash of granulated garlic
- dash of italian seasoning
Instructions
- Wash and core the top of the tomato and cut into quarters only using half per serving, then season with all spices.
- Preheat the plancha or grill to high heat.
- Sear tomato on all sides for 3-4 minutes to get nice caramelization.
- This should cook the outsides of the tomato but keep the nice heirloom flavor as you cut into it.
