Everyone loves Italian food. It’s probably one of the most universally loved heritage food groups. And while pasts is typically a no-no on many real-food/HCG menus, I’ve come up with an ultra satisfying alternative that will make you full and keep your Italian cravings satisfied!
Baked Eggs Italiano (P2 Approved, Low Cal, Paleo)

Craving Italian flavors and looking for a healthy and delicious HCG-approved meal? This Italian-inspired baked egg dish hits all the classic Italian flavor combos with basic and tomato while keeping it light and healthy.
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup no-sugar-added marinara sauce
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2-3 leaves fresh basil
Instructions
- In a 8 oz mini skillet, warm marinara sauce over medium heat until you see steam start to rise and bubbles start to form.
- Turn on oven broiler to High (or set over to 500)
- As soon as you see bubbles start to form, carefully add cracked egg to marinara. Salt and pepper to taste. Place skillet under broiler and cook for 3-5 minutes depending on how runny you like your yokes.
- Garnish with basil.
Notes
If you don’t have a mini skillet dish, you could use a ramekin or any other over, stove save dish.
