Homemade Apple Chips – The Perfect Fall Recipe

It’s officially fall, our favorite season of the year!  The cooler weather, changing leaves and pumpkins everywhere makes me want to have pumpkin, ginger, cinnamon or nutmeg in everything I eat.  If you crave the taste of fall like I do, then you will absolutely love this recipe!

Tara surprised me with these apple chips one day during our second round and I have been obsessed with them ever since!  we make them in large batches and store them in vacuum sealed mason jars.

These chips are the perfect snack for adults and kids alike. Mike a large batch as they will be eaten up in no time!
Ingredients
  • 8 medium apples (gala or fuji)
  • 2 lemons, juiced
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup stevia (or liquid stevia to taste)
  • 4 cups water
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 300 F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix lemon juice, cinnamon, stevia and water until stevia is dissolved and everything is combined.
  3. Wash and destem apples and slice into 1/8 inc to 1/4 inch rings. If you your knife skills are lacking, you can use a slicing attachment on your food processor or a mandoline. Try to keep the size uniform so they bake evenly
  4. Immediately place sliced apples into mixture and let set for 5 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile line 2-3 sheet pans with parchment or nonstick silicone baking mat (silpat).
  6. Drain apples in a colander and shake off any extra liquid, as this will slow down the drying process.
  7. Line sheetpans with a single layer of apples.
  8. Bake for 40 – 60 minutes flipping all apples half way through. The thicker your slices the longer they will take to get crunchy.
  9. If you like your chips a bit chewy, remove from oven and cool. If you like your chips crunchy, once apples are finished baking turn off oven and leave them inside for an hour to cool.
  10. Before you eat any chips it’s really important to divide them into individual servings (they are SO delicious it’s really easy to overdo it!). We’ve found a serving weighs about 2-3 oz after baked.

Everyone (on a diet or not) will LOVE these chips. We almost always make a double or triple batch (pictured).
